YWCA Unveils Keynote Speaker for Women's Equality Day Luncheon in Evansville

EVANSVILLE — The Women's Equality Day Luncheon scheduled for this year will take place on August 27 at the Bally's Riverfront Event Center.

The lunch event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring a keynote address by Susan Hardwick, who recently stepped down as the CEO of American Water Works, Inc. Prior to this role, she served as executive vice president and chief financial officer at Vectren until its acquisition by CenterPoint Energy.

The cost of tickets is $75 for the friend level and $100 for the donor level. Additionally, there are table reservations and event sponsorship options available. You can find the tickets at womensequalityday.swell.gives up until Aug. 15.

Women’s Equality Day, hosted by the YWCA Evansville in collaboration with Stepping Up Evansville, marks the adoption of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1920 and honors achievements made by women. Additionally, Stepping Up Evansville will present its Inspirational Leader award during this event.

Hardwick's address centers around, "The Pursuit of Equity: Is It Acceptable to Prioritize Oneself?"

For more than two decades, our community has honored Women's Equality Day to recognize the significant achievement of granting all women the right to vote," said Erika Taylor, CEO of YWCA Evansville. "While the 19st Amendment marked a pivotal moment, it wasn’t the final step for women. It serves as a reminder that American women still encounter systemic inequalities and ongoing challenges to their rights. We're thrilled to host Ms. Hardwick and eagerly anticipate her insights.
